How do I end a block early?

It depends on which unlock option you chose when you started the block. The active block screen shows which one is on.

If you have an accountability partner

1. On the active block screen, tap Unlock Early.
2. Call or text your partner and explain why you want to unlock.
3. If they agree, they read you the 8-character unlock code from their text.
4. Enter it and tap Verify Code & Unlock.

Your partner is notified when you unlock early. You never see the code yourself. That's what stops a craving from ending the block.

If Recovo says there's no active unlock code, your partner needs to resend it. If their text never arrived, see My accountability partner didn't get the text.

If the block is in Lockdown Mode

Nothing can end a Lockdown block early: not a partner, not support, and not you. It ends when the timer runs out. This is deliberate. A block you can switch off during an urge doesn't hold.

When the timer is up, the block screen says your block period has ended. Tap End Block to restore access.

What a block can't stop

Nothing in Recovo can end a Lockdown block early, but no block covers everything. A block can fail, lapse or be worked around:

• Sites and apps you didn't pick. Outside Safari, a block covers only the apps and websites you chose in Apple's picker, and Apple caps websites at about 50.
• Safari's list, if the extension is off. The preloaded list works only in Safari, and the extension can be switched off in iOS Settings without your partner. If a site still loads, see how to block it.
• Other devices. Recovo runs on your iPhone. It doesn't cover a laptop, a tablet or someone else's phone.
• iOS itself. An iOS update, a restore or a reset can stop a block.
• Deliberate workarounds. Blocks rely on Apple's Screen Time, and someone determined may find a way around them.

So don't make Recovo your only safeguard. Use it alongside professional support, self-exclusion and a gambling block from your bank.

Common questions

Can Recovo support end my block?

No. We have no way to unlock a block remotely, and that's on purpose. Only your accountability partner's code, or the timer running out, can end it.

Can I add a partner to a block that's already running?

A partner unlocks the blocks you start after they're set up. A block already running in Lockdown Mode stays in Lockdown until its timer ends.
