About Recovo

Recovo is an iPhone app for people who want to stop gambling. It blocks gambling websites and apps, counts every day without a bet, and lets someone you trust hold the code that ends a block early. It launched on the App Store in April 2026.

Who makes it

Recovo is built by Austin Both, an independent developer, who also runs this website and the guides on the blog.

The guides are not medical advice and aren't a substitute for a doctor, therapist or counselor. If you're in crisis, call 1-800-522-4700 in the US, GamCare on 0808 8020 133 in the UK, or 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

How the guides are written

Gambling harm is a health topic, and the people reading these guides are often in financial trouble. A wrong number here is advice, not a typo, so every guide follows the same rules:

  • Research claims have a source. Statistics and "research shows" claims are traced to a published source, and a post can't go live while the check finds one unsourced. Some sentences are marked as our own judgment instead, and those aren't research findings.
  • Sourced claims get a separate check. Each one is compared with the source's own wording by a separate automated check or a manual pass, and a script confirms the quote appears in the source wherever the source can be fetched.
  • The guides have not been clinically reviewed. No doctor, therapist or counselor has checked them.
  • Recovo's own data is never used as evidence. The app's user base is far too small to support a public statistic.
  • Comparisons say who wrote them. Where a guide compares Recovo with other apps, it says that we make Recovo, and it points to the alternative wherever that's the better fit.

If you spot something wrong, email support@recovoapp.com so it can be checked and fixed.
